While there are many groups of people that need additional financial support, our inaugural “Diversity in Product” scholarship will have six scholarships of $1,000 each, available for those currently working in or breaking into Product, who identify as any of the following:
- Black
- Indigenous
- Person of Colour
- Womxn (includes cis womxn, trans, femme/feminine-identifying, genderqueer and non-binary folks)
- Person Living with Disabilities
- LGBTQIA2S+
ProductBC will support six people by awarding each of them with $1,000 ($6,000 total). Funds can be used towards education and professional development to build or advance one’s product career, and become an advocate against the systemic barriers.
Scholarship Recipients Selection Process
ProductBC Scholarship Committee will review anonymized submissions and score them independently. Individual scoring will then be aggregated to select a winner in each category. Scholarship selection criteria are as follows:
- Demonstrated passion in Product
- Demonstrated financial needs
- Involvement in community
- Demonstrated commitment to DEI
- Education of choice (how you would use the funds)
- How would candidate champion after receiving the education
ProductBC retains the right to make changes to the scholarship timelines, selection criteria, the amount of awards in each category or any other part of these terms. ProductBC may contact applicants for additional information about their applications. By submitting an application, you consent to having your name published in ProductBC media if you were to be awarded a scholarship. Names of applicants who did not receive scholarship funding, will remain fully anonymous. Names and personal information of scholarship applicants will be kept strictly confidential by the ProductBC board of directors.
